- Some of the authoring software for CD-I titles is Mac-based, which is
- what the AIFF storage format was created for by Apple Computer, Inc. As for
- the Photo CD stuff, the authoring software uses AIFF as the standard audio
- storage format. Later in the process, the 16 bit audio data is transferred
- to CDDA tracks. It's not a bad idea to use IFF for other purposes, being
- a compact and extensible file format in the first place. No big surprise
- Philips picked up the idea and put it to use in their default CD-I Photo CD
- player application.
