  33.    Some of the authoring software for CD-I titles is Mac-based, which is
  34. what the AIFF storage format was created for by Apple Computer, Inc. As for
  35. the Photo CD stuff, the authoring software uses AIFF as the standard audio
  36. storage format. Later in the process, the 16 bit audio data is transferred
  37. to CDDA tracks. It's not a bad idea to use IFF for other purposes, being
  38. a compact and extensible file format in the first place. No big surprise
  39. Philips picked up the idea and put it to use in their default CD-I Photo CD
  40. player application.
